Meet Cllr. J. Awia Vankan
Cllr. Vankan is a licensed Liberian lawyer with more than twelve (12) years of experience as a practicing lawyer. He focuses his practice of law on civil matters, notably in commercial, corporate, banking, finance, labor, intellectual property, etc. He served in various administrative and financial positions prior to being called to the Bar; thereby acquiring financial and administrative skills.
Cllr. Vankan has led several consultancies under which he performed research and provided legal advisory support and consultancy, including serving as the lead drafter for the Land Rights Act Regulation. He has advised clients on many high-profile projects and consultancies. Cllr. Vankan also has vast knowledge of the legal landscape covering the land and forestry sectors of Liberia.
He is a member of the Liberian National Bar Association and the former President of the Nimba County Bar Association, a local chapter of the Bar. Cllr. Vankan is also a director of the Agriculture Relief Services (ARS), Inc., a not-for-profit organization engaged in agriculture and conservation activities. He has served as company secretarial for a number of organizations.
Cllr. Vankan holds an LLB (honors) from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, a BBA in Accounting from Stella Maris Polytechnic and an AA in Accounting from Don Bosco Polytechnic.
